Short Stay Picnic 6/23/2018

The 2018 Church Picnic at Short Stay will be June 23, 2018  8:00 a.m – 5:00 p.m.

Directions to Short Stay

Directions from Charleston: Take I-26 West to Hwy 52 exit towards Goose Creek and Moncks Corner. Go through the  town of Goose Creek stay on Hwy 52 approximately 15 miles until you come to the red light in Moncks Corner you will see a CVS on your right in front of you. Turn left onto Hwy 52. Go over the Tail Race Canal Bridge, go though first light and veer to your left go though the light. Gas station will be on your right. Approximately 2 miles you will see a sign on the right that reads “Naval Recreation Area Short Stay.” Make sure you stay in left hand lane, turn left onto Powerhouse Rd. You take the first right onto Old Black Oak Rd. Go over the railroad tracks to the end of the road at stop sign turn left. You have reached Short Stay.

Alternate Directions: Take exit 194 (Jedburg/Pinopolis. Turn left onto Hwy 16 (Jedburg Rd.). Go to the light (Hwy 176) and go  straight across onto Cooper Store Road. Follow the signs to Pinopolis. Go to stop sign and take a right onto Hwy 6. Go towards the town of Moncks Corner and at third light make a left onto Hwy 17-A. That will lead into Hwy 52 and then make a left. Go over the Tail Race Canal Bridge go though first light and veer to your left go though the light. Gas station will be on your right. Approximately 2 miles you will see a sign on the right that reads  “Naval Recreation Area Short Stay” make sure you stay in left hand lane, turn left onto Powerhouse Rd. You take the first right onto Old Black Oak Rd. Go over the railroad tracks to the end of the road at stop sign turn left. You have reached Short Stay.

Upon arrival at the gate at Short Stay, tell them you are with Givhans Baptist Church. They will give you a pass to get in and it will already be paid for. Our picnic is at the Edisto Pavilion, right next to the main swimming area.

No 2 piece bathing suits unless covered by t-shirt and shorts, no inappropriate logos on clothing. No foul language, alcohol or tobacco. Please leave all electronics (cell phones, tablets, MP3 players, computers) in the car or at home.

Displaying improper behavior will not be tolerated. Improper behavior includes but is not limited to the following:

  • Foul language
  • Disrespectfulness/rudeness
  • Horse play
  • Disruptive behavior
  • Disorderly conduct
  • Fighting
  • Bullying
  • Graffiti/Defacing/Destruction of property
  • Inappropriately touching one another
  • Public display of affection
